Sheila Fisher
Operations Manager
Sheila qualified as a Microbiologist and then went on to gain a Diploma in Management and is a Member of the Institute of Management.
Sheila joined the Clinical Trials Research Unit in 1999. Prior to this she was Site Manager of the Lynfield Laboratory, which encompassed MQM Dairy and Food Laboratory, the Auckland Animal Health Laboratory and the MAF Plant Protection Unit and Quarantine facilities. Her achievements included the set up one of the largest Pathogen testing facilities in New Zealand, particularly the Salmonella testing facility to meet the requirements of the USFDA, as well setting up a facility at Lynfield to monitor marine and freshwater biotoxins.
During her career, Sheila has also been involved in the set up and auditing of quality management systems within the Dairy Industry. She was a technical assessor for IANZ and until 2005, was a member of the IANZ professional advisory committee.
At the CTRU, Sheila is responsible for the management of the Operations of the Unit, which includes finance, HR, contract management, administration and infrastructure.
